27: love in its purest form

26:

Please read the note 🙏

Guys in 2016 commercial surrogacy was banned in India to prevent exploitation of poor women . Only altruistic surrogacy was allowed within family groups and altruistic surrogates don't receive any  monetary compensation for this reproductive labour .

As Bella was not a family when she conceived, also she received a hefty amount from vidyut through which she treated her mother .. that's all illegal what happened  that's why I mentioned in the beginning of the book that surrogacy is illegal .

I don't want to hurt anytime sentiments , so I'm making it  clear that only  after a detailed research about the laws and procedures I started this book .

Still if you have any doubts or questions ask me directly , I'll try my best to clear your misconceptions.

I do agree that the base of this book is illegal but it's not vulgar, violence, harrassment and it includes no foul language or any mistreatment towards a women .

I kept it respectful with beautiful emotions . If you found any thing that  needs to be reported or I wrote any offensive dialogue please go ahead you are free to report but this book was just an idea that was different from basic fictional books and I don't find anything wrong that's why I wrote its more than 60 chapters till now .

If you don't want to read let me know I'll discontinue the book with due respect to my readers sentiments

Vidyut sat on the cold hospital bench, his head buried in his palms, his entire body weighed down by exhaustion, guilt, and heartbreak. His world, which had once been so perfect, now felt like it was slipping through his fingers like grains of sand.

He had lost count of how long he had been sitting there—long enough for the sterile white walls of the hospital to blur in his vision, long enough for the ache in his chest to become unbearable.

And then… he felt it.

A soft touch.

Warm, trembling hands covering his own.

He lifted his head sharply, startled, and what he saw made his breath hitch.

Bella.

She was kneeling in front of him, her belly  pressing against his legs, her eyes red-rimmed and filled with unshed tears. Her hands gripped his tightly, as if she was holding on to the last thread keeping her together.

“Bella,” he gasped, trying to pull her up, but she resisted, shaking her head.

“No, Vidyut. Let me stay like this,” she whispered, her voice breaking.

His heart twisted painfully at the sight of her, kneeling, fragile yet strong, broken yet so full of love.

He didn’t want this. He didn’t want her on her knees in front of him, looking so lost, so guilty. She was his queen, the mother of his child, his everything.

“Bella, get up,” he pleaded, his voice hoarse.

But she shook her head again, her tears falling freely now.

“I’m sorry,” she choked out, her fingers tightening around his. “I’m so, so sorry, Vidyut.”

His eyes burned as he watched her. He had prepared himself for her anger, for her hatred. But this? This shattered him.

“Bella…”

“I was wrong,” she sobbed. “I hurt you, and I—” Her voice broke completely as she squeezed her eyes shut. “I accused you of something so horrible. I thought… I thought you only wanted me because of Ruhani.”

Vidyut inhaled sharply, his throat clenching.

“But the truth is…” She lifted her tear-streaked face, looking into his eyes. “I was scared. Scared that I wasn’t enough. Scared that I had been living in an illusion.”

She let out a shuddering breath, her shoulders shaking.

“And in that fear, I forgot that you’ve always been there. You’ve always loved me, Vidyut. Not because of Ruhani, not because of fate, but because we were meant to be.”

A sharp gasp left Vidyut’s lips, his body freezing at her words.

“I love you,” she whispered brokenly. “I love you so much that it terrifies me. And when I thought—when I thought you had only married me for Ruhani, it shattered something inside me.”

Vidyut closed his eyes, a single tear slipping down his cheek. He had never heard her say those words with such raw emotion before.

He cupped her face, his hands trembling as he wiped her tears away.

“I’m sorry too,” he murmured, his voice cracking. “I should have told you the truth. I should have never let you doubt my love for you.”

Bella sniffled, leaning into his touch.

“But you love me, right?” she whispered. “You love me despite everything?”

His lips parted in shock, his heart clenching painfully.

He let out a broken chuckle, his forehead resting against hers.

“Bella,” he rasped. “You are the air I breathe. The reason my heart beats. The love of my life. How could I not love you?”

A sob escaped her lips, and she threw herself into his arms, clutching him as if he were her lifeline.

Vidyut held her just as tightly, his arms wrapping around her, feeling her warmth, her love, her soul.

“I’m sorry,” she mumbled into his chest. “For everything.”

He shook his head, kissing her hair, inhaling her scent.

“We’re okay,” he whispered. “We’ll always be okay, Bella.”

And in that moment, amidst the pain and the tears, they found their way back to each other.

Not as two people bound by fate.

But as two souls who had chosen to love—against all odds, against all fears.

And that love?

It was unbreakable.

-----

Vidyut's arms wrapped around Bella, pulling her into his lap, his embrace fierce yet gentle, as if he was trying to fuse her into his very being. His chest rose and fell unevenly, his breath warm against her temple. Bella clutched his shirt, her fingers curling into the fabric as if afraid that he would disappear if she let go.

His grip tightened around her waist, his large palms caressing her back, pressing her closer, letting her know that she was safe. That he was here. That he would always be here.

For a while, neither of them spoke. The rhythmic beating of Vidyut's heart against her ear was the only sound, a steady reminder that she was right where she belonged.

Bella sighed shakily, her body melting against his as she breathed him in. He smelled like home—warm, comforting, familiar.

"Vidyut…" she whispered, her voice barely audible, but he heard it.

He always did.

"Shh," he murmured, his lips pressing against the top of her head. "Just stay like this for a moment."

She let out a quiet sob, her tears soaking into his shirt, and he rocked her gently, his fingers tracing soothing circles on her back.

"I was so scared," she admitted, her voice breaking. "Not just today… but since the beginning. I was scared of feeling too much. Scared of losing everything if I let myself believe that this love was real."

His chest ached at her words. He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply.

"Bella…" His voice was thick with emotion. "You never had to be scared. Not with me."

She pulled back slightly, just enough to look into his eyes, her own brimming with unshed tears.

"But I was," she confessed. "I never thought I'd get to have this. A family. A husband who loves me. A child who is mine. And when I thought you lied, it felt like it was all slipping away."

Vidyut cupped her face, his thumbs wiping away the tears staining her cheeks. His eyes were soft, filled with something so intense, so deep, that it made her breath hitch.

"You were never going to lose me," he whispered, his forehead resting against hers. "Even if you had pushed me away a thousand times, I would have found my way back to you. Every single time."

A fresh wave of tears welled in her eyes.

"You really mean that?" she asked in a broken whisper.

He let out a breathless chuckle, his nose brushing against hers.

"I have never meant anything more in my life," he admitted, his voice raw, his grip on her tightening. "Bella, I didn’t marry you because of Ruhani. I married you because I fell in love with you the moment I saw you. The moment you walked into my life, stubborn and fierce, willing to give up everything to help me have a child."

Her lips trembled.

"Vidyut…"

"I didn’t even realize it at first," he continued, his voice husky, almost as if he was confessing a secret he had held in his heart for too long. "But every day, you became a part of me. I would wake up looking for you. I would find excuses just to be around you. And then… when I saw you carrying our baby, I knew. I knew I could never love anyone else the way I love you."

Bella's fingers slid up to cup his face, tracing his jawline, memorizing every detail of the man who had changed her life.

"I love you," she whispered, her voice cracking. "I love you so much it scares me."

His eyes darkened with emotion.

"Then let it scare you," he murmured, pressing his forehead harder against hers. "Because I will spend every day proving that this love is real."

Her breath hitched as he gently kissed away the last of her tears, his lips trailing down to her cheeks, her nose, the corner of her mouth.

"I love you," he murmured against her lips. "And I will never stop loving you, Bella."

A single tear slipped down her cheek, but this time, it wasn’t out of pain. It was relief. Happiness. Love.

She leaned in, capturing his lips in a kiss so tender, so full of unspoken promises, that it left them both breathless.

As they pulled apart, she rested her head against his shoulder, letting out a content sigh.

Vidyut tightened his grip around her, burying his face in her hair.

"Stay like this for a while," he whispered. "I just want to hold you."

And so they sat there, wrapped in each other’s arms, their hearts beating as one, knowing that no matter what came next—love had already won.

.....

Vidyut tightened his arms around Bella as she slowly drifted off in his lap, her soft breaths warming his chest. He leaned back against the hospital bench, exhaling a long, shaky breath as he took in the sight of his wife nestled against him—the woman who had become his entire world.

Her body fit so perfectly against his, as if she was carved to be in his arms, as if this was the only place she was meant to be. Her face, though streaked with dried tears, looked so peaceful now, her lips parted slightly as she slept. The weight of her against him felt grounding, anchoring him in a reality he never thought he would have—the reality where she was his, where she loved him, where she had chosen him just as much as he had chosen her.

His fingers brushed against her hair, tucking a stray strand behind her ear as he let himself drown in the emotions threatening to consume him.

How could he even begin to describe what she meant to him?

She wasn’t just his wife. She was his salvation. His reason to believe in love again.

The first time he saw her, she had been nothing more than a stranger agreeing to be a surrogate mother for a child he had longed for. He had seen her as a blessing, a miracle, but never in his wildest dreams had he imagined she would become so much more. That she would become everything.

The way she had loved Ruhani from the very beginning, the way she had unknowingly carved a place for herself in his heart—it was beyond his understanding, beyond anything he had ever believed he could feel.

And now, knowing that she had been the mother of his child all along, that fate had woven their lives together so perfectly, he realized something.

There was never a moment when Bella wasn’t meant to be his.

His heart clenched as he gazed down at her. The weight of what had happened today still sat heavily on his chest. The accusations, the anger, the pain in her eyes when she thought he had married her for nothing more than Ruhani… it had shattered something inside him.

But now, here she was, in his arms. Choosing to trust him. Choosing to stay.

A deep sigh left his lips as he leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to the crown of her head.

He had almost lost her today. Not physically, but emotionally.

And that thought alone was enough to terrify him to his core.

Vidyut tightened his hold around her, his palm resting on her lower back as if afraid she would slip away. She was warm, soft, delicate—his entire world resting in his lap, trusting him enough to fall asleep in the safest place she knew.

He closed his eyes, burying his face in her hair.

"I love you, Bella," he whispered, his voice barely above a breath.

As if hearing him in her sleep, she let out a content sigh, nuzzling closer, her fingers unconsciously gripping the fabric of his shirt.

A small, tender smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

This was home.

Not the house they lived in. Not the life they built.

This.

Her heartbeat against his. Her warmth. Her love.

This was everything.

And as the night deepened, with the soft hum of hospital machines in the background and the scent of her still lingering around him, Vidyut let himself relax for the first time in hours.

His Bella. His love. His forever.

And as long as she was in his arms, everything in the world was right.

....
